Because the Republicans, including Republican Rep. Deborah Pryce (OH-15), have cut veterans' benefits, our military and their families have had to endure an incredible amount of hardships. If you know of someone whose spouse/son/daughter is serving in the military, ask them what kind of treatment their loved one is receiving.
Many stories emerge in these conversations ----
...reservists who cannot retire, even though they are over 50 years of age.
...service members who are forced to spend thousands of dollars for their own body armor, and wait and wait and wait for reimbursement.
...injured service members who are forced back into Iraq.
...service members who must travel several hours to receive medical treatment.
....problems receiving pay checks.
etc., etc., etc.
As I have written before, the Republicans have a dismal record supporting our troops. The GOP is quite willing to send your loved ones to war without adequate body armor, but they refuse to discuss how to end the war. With a Republican majority, they set the agenda and they control the vote. It is time for change and it can begin by electing Democrats like Mary Jo Kilroy and others Dems. Democrats will work to help our military and their families. Since a majority of Americans want troops home within a year, it is apparent that only Democrats will get our troops home. President Bush and his rubber stamp Republicans will only continue the war because they are unwilling to seek another strategy. Election day is our best way to change the direction of this war and our country.
