Voters Distrust Candidates With Tea Party Ties

Looks like voters are awakening to the fact that those associated with the Republican Tea Party movement are frightening and not to be trusted. (Examples: Alaska's Miller, Nevada's Angle, and Delaware's Christine "I am not a witch" O'Donnell).  Here in Ohio, Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (OH-15th), a champion for our veterans, college students, average working people, and senior citizens, is being attacked by a former bank lobbyist and Tea Party sympathizer, Steve Stivers.  Stivers, once considered a moderate Republican, has gone over to the "dark side" of the Tea Party and has adopted parts of their platform. He has flip flopped on issues to the point that the Stivers of 2008 would not recognize the Stivers of 2010.  Where does he really stand?

Reminder: According to a survey that Republican Steve Stivers, a former bank lobbyist,
completed for the Glenn Beck/912 group, Stivers wants to -

1. Repeal the health care reform bill

2. Repeal the 16th Amendment to the Constitution

3. Repeal the 17th Amendment to the Constitution

4. Eliminate the Department of Agriculture

5. Eliminate the Department of Education

6. Eliminate the Department of the Interior

7. Eliminate the Department of Housing of and Urban Development

8. Eliminate the Department of Transportation

9. Eliminate the Department of Energy

10. Eliminate Department of Veterans Affairs

Stivers did not even garner an endorsement from the largest veterans groups in the nation.  The VFW PAC endorsed Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy, instead of Stivers.

The choice is clear in Ohio's 15th district.  Vote for Kilroy.

Last night's debate featuring candidates for Ohio's Secretary of State showed one thing for sure.....
Mary Ellen O'Shaughnessy is more knowledgeable, has more business and technology experience, and wants to protect free and fair elections.  The Republican candidate, Jon Husted, is a real lightweight.  Even though Husted has lived in Upper Arlington for nearly 5 years, he continues to claim "residency" in Kettering for the district he represents for the Ohio Senate.  Husted won't even release his income tax returns.  Is he taking deductions for travel to/from that Kettering home when he is never, ever there?  O'Shughnessy is honest and decent.  Husted?  Not so much.

John Kasich, Republican candidate for governor, is fighting against Ted Strickland, Democratic Governor.  Strickland has made some tough choices in this economy that was created by the failures of Lehman Brothers, banks, and the incredibly stupid economic policies of the Bush administration.  You've got to wonder, if Kasich sold out people he knew in Ohio when he called up the Ohio pension funds to invest in Lehaman's toxic investments, what else would he do?  Kasich has long been in a battle against college students by trying to eliminate college loan/grant programs when he was in Congress.  Would Kasich go on attack again as governor and raise tuition at state schools to pay for his tax cuts for the rich?  I'm just asking.

Strickland is an honest man.  Vote Strickland for Governor.
