Kasich and Stivers: For Themselves and Wealthy

On Kasich:
Republican John Kasich, former investment banker at Lehman Brothers, and conservative talk show host at Fox News (not really news, right wing propaganda), convinced his old boss at Fox to toss some big money his way.

The State Column:
Politico is reporting that News Corp.’s $1 million gift to the Republican Governors Association was the result of Rupert Murdoch’s personal friendship with former Fox News host and Ohio gubernatorial hopeful John Kasich....
.....The contribution, which follows on the heels of a $1 million donation to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce by News Corp....

Did you see how it was done? "...Murdoch’s personal friendship with former Fox News host...." got the contribution which eventually would find a way to Kasich's campaign coffers.  Was that how Kasich got the Ohio pension funds to invest with Lehman?  Did he have a "personal friendship" with someone on the board/boards?  Are there people on those pension boards now with ties to Kasich or Bob Taft who have hidden information on how Lehman Brothers got pension money?  Is this the way Kasich would get things done in Ohio?  Would Kasich hand over money and access to the state government assets/contracts to his rich investment banker friends because of his "personal friendship" with them?

Here is something that will make you ROFLOL:

By now you know that Kasich hired an actor to portray an out of work steelworker in his campaign ad.  Did you also know that, (see Buckeye State Blog)  that actor in that Kasich ad is "a convicted felon."

Here is the Ohio Democratic Party's Response to Kasich's ad: (You Tube)

- Did you know that Republican John Kasich voted against raising the minimum wage in 1996?
Project Vote Smart has this:
HR 1227: Minimum Wage Increase
H Amdt 1085: Fair Labor Standards Act Amendment
  H Amdt 1084

Project Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to adopt an amendment that increases the minimum wage by 90 cents from $4.25 to $5.15 by July 1, 1997.

It passed without Kasich's vote.  Kasich just wants to keep the disadvantaged poor, and help the rich get richer.

In John Kasich's world, the rich get richer, pension fund retirees lose money, and their is always hidden information (like his fake steelworker).  Kasich might resume his fight against college students and reduce grants and loans and increase tuition.

ON STEVE STIVERS (former bank lobbyist, anti-environmentalist, anti-choice, anti-health reform, pro-bankers, pro-lobbyist):
....In an article in the right leaning Columbus Dispatch, the Stivers campaign is bragging about the inaccurate poll that was taken by a lobbying group for natural gas:
Stivers leads Kilroy easily among both independents, 46 percent to 25 percent, and men, 50 percent 35 percent. Stivers has a small lead among women, 44 percent to 40 percent. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4.9 percent.....

A female voter should not support Steve Stivers.
(1) Stivers voted down a law to force insurance companies to pay for contraception (but allowed insurance companies to pay for male enhancement medication).

(2) Steve Stivers, was against the increase in Ohio minimum wage.  Stivers wanted exemptions for certain workers. To put it plainly, Stivers did not want home health-care workers, farm workers, and amusement park employees to receive the new increase in the Ohio minimum wage and he fought against it. (Dispatch: 4/26/07, MyEmploymentLawyer). Despite his opposition to the minimum wage for these three groups, Stivers lost and they were awarded the minimum wage increase.

(3) The Columbus Dispatch (Sept. 7, 2008):

....As a member of the legislative panel that votes on major spending requests, Stivers approved three contracts in 2006 and 2007 worth a total of $174,000 to JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Stivers headed corporate lobbying for Banc One Corp., which was acquired by Chase in 2004, after Stivers had left the company to enter the state Senate. Stivers' financial disclosure forms for 2007 show that he had $2,600 to $8,000 worth of Chase stock and retirement holdings....

....Stivers spoke out against stricter regulation of the mortgage-lending industry in early 2006 and was one of three state senators to vote against a bill that year that imposed new requirements on the lending industry....

Stivers has supported bankers over people, and the rights of businesses over the rights of citizens.

(4) Stivers voted against the Disability Scholarship Fund (see Votesmart).

(5) Stivers voted against a Mortgage Lending Bill that protects consumers from unscrupulous lenders, appraisers, real estate agents, etc.

(6) Stivers was hand-picked by lobbyist-loving, ultra tanned, John Boehner.

(7) Stivers has aligned himself with the right wing, nuttery of the Tea Party, Glenn Beck-loving 912 groups.

Stivers wants to:

1. Repeal the health care reform bill
2. Repeal the 16th Amendment to the Constitution
3. Repeal the 17th Amendment to the Constitution
4. Eliminate the Department of Agriculture
5. Eliminate the Department of Education
6. Eliminate the Department of the Interior
7. Eliminate the Department of Housing of and Urban Development
8. Eliminate the Department of Transportation
9. Eliminate the Department of Energy

10. Eliminate the Department of Veterans Affairs
11. Sell national parks for mining

(8) Stivers wants to repeal legislation that assists working women.  Stivers wants to repeal the bank reform bill.

(9)  With the possibility that some large banks foreclosed on homes without proper documentation, an investigation of the banking mortgage industry is coming.  Would you want former bank lobbyist Steve Stivers to block that investigation?
