Ohio Politics (continued)

David Ryon, the Constitution Party candidate for Ohio's 15th district, has an interesting comment on his Twitter page:

RyonforCongress

Ryon is reacting this way because Republican candidate, Steve Stivers, a former bank lobbyist, doesn't want to participate in any debate that includes candidates from the Constitution or Libertarian Parties.

There has been some bad blood between Stivers and Ryon from earlier this summer.  I wrote about it on this blog on June 12, 2010:

A letter to the editor of the Columbus Dispatch describes how the Ohio GOP tried to clear the primary field for their candidate, Steve Stivers, a former bank lobbyist. The letter, written by GOP candidate for Ohio's 15th, John Adams, suggests that Republicans tried to clear the path for Stivers. I'm sure the DCCC will be interested.

Dispatch:

...On Oct. 28, 2009, Doug Priesse, chairman of the Franklin County Republican Party, asked to meet with me concerning my candidacy.
During our meeting, he pointed out that Steve Stivers, a Republican candidate for the same office, would prefer “to conserve his money and efforts” for the general election in November 2010 and not be subjected to a primary campaign....
....According to (David) Ryon, Stivers met with him the next day to discuss Ryon’s Constitution Party candidacy. This is particularly disturbing for a candidate of the Republican Party to cross party lines and attempt to “clear the field” of a candidate in the Constitution Party....

The Ohio Republicans are working behind the scenes to make sure that Stivers, a former bank lobbyist, and an advocate to repeal the 16th & 17th Amendments to the Constitution, doesn't have to have any hassles during this election year. What other shenanigans have the Ohio and Franklin Co. GOPers involved themselves in to help Stivers?

John  Kasich, Republican candidate for Ohio governor, wants to have teachers teach creationism in public schools. ClevelandJewishNews (6/30/2009):

....On social issues, Kasich said he supports teaching both evolution and “creation science” in Ohio biology classes...

Not that teachers have enough to deal with, now they have to teach Kasich's "creation science" too?  Hey, professors at all the Ohio universities and colleges:  Please explain to your students, family, and friends why this will not make us smarter.

Do you remember when Republicans held a summit to discuss their opposition to climate change last year?  With John Boehner in charge of the "summit" Republicans explained their pro-business, anti-environment views on the Ohio State campus in September 2009:

U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner and other GOP House members pressed their case in Columbus yesterday against climate-change legislation, charging that it would drive more jobs out of ailing Ohio....
.....Greenpeace USA spokeswoman Deborah Steele called the summit "another attempt by dirty-energy companies to stall meaningful action on global warming."
She said that Ohio, which relies on coal for 86 percent of its electricity, is the fourth-largest producer of greenhouse emissions in the U.S. If Ohio were a country, it would be the 14th-largest emissions generator in the world, Steele said.

Do you remember the picture from the "summit" that showed the massive crowds that believed in the cockamamie Republican  theories on the environment, and global warming? (see picture below)

Pathetic Turn-out for GOP Energy Summit

Can you imagine what harm the Republicans would do?
