Garry Goldsmith has the best analysis about Tiberi, Portman, and Kasich in the Newark Advocate:
...For instance, listen to Congressman Pat Tiberi's television ad. He tells how he wants to "balance the budget," "stop the spending," "do more for education," "create jobs," etc. Congressman Tiberi has been in office since 2000. He was hand-picked to succeed John Kasich, who took a cushy position with the soon-to-go-bankrupt Lehman Brothers on Wall Street in New York. The question before the voters of the 12th District is why hasn't Tiberi accomplished these goals before now? Why, in this election year, is he suddenly making these things a priority?
I think we know the answer. The bigger question is why would you vote for someone who has had plenty of time to fix these things but made no attempt to do so in the past 10 years. How much longer do we give Tiberi a pass? Also keep in mind that Congressman Tiberi was a rubber stamp for the Bush/Cheney financial meltdown that put is in this economic hole.
Goldsmith goes on to explain the problems with candidates, Rob Portman and John Kasich:
Then there is John Kasich and Rob Portman. These two guys were the architects for the free-trade policies that shipped literally thousands of jobs to China and other countries. They also opened the flood gates to many products that were unsafe for U.S. consumers, but cared little for any regulation to prevent this disaster. Now, all of a sudden, Kasich and Portman claim to have a plan to put Americans to work. Where was that plan years ago when both were in positions to protect our jobs and our consumers? Kasich was one of the biggest opponents of President Clinton's balancing of the budget. Yet it didn't stop him in his debate with Gov. Strickland, to take credit for the very budget balancing act he and fellow Republicans so adamantly opposed. Sometimes what comes out of the mouths of these guys is nothing short of unbelievable. So now these Republicans want us to hand over important political offices to those who drove our economy to bankruptcy. How irresponsible is this?....
Thank you, Garry Goldsmith for succinctly telling the truth about Tiberi, Portman, and Kasich!!!!
* John Boehner recruited Steve Stivers, a former bank lobbyist, to run for Congress to represent to
central Ohio. Boehner presented his Republican agenda, Pledge to America, and Republican across the land rejoiced. However, many Republicans did not even read the "Pledge to America", as reported by the Washington Post. Then we have this gem from the Washington Post:
....And a spokesman for Republican Steve Stivers, Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy's opponent in Ohio, said that he wasn't sure whether his boss had read the pledge, but that he hasn't mentioned it on the campaign trail....
OMG! It might be that Stivers, a former bank lobbyist, has been so busy going to those fundraisers that bankers have been throwing for him that he hasn't had the chance to do his reading homework.
*** Why won't Republican Jon Husted release his income tax returns? What is he hiding?
