Republican Steve Stivers, former bank lobbyist, continues his dirty campaign ads that question Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy's patriotism. Despite condemnations from the Columbus Dispatch, Patrick Preston (NBC4 reporter) and local citizens, Stivers and his staff continue to run the smear campaign. This kind of smear political operation makes Steve Stivers appear less than honorable and a full blown liar. Then again, what can you expect from someone who worked as a bank lobbyist, refused to promise to protect Social Security, is against bank regulations, and wants to keep the tax cuts for his wealthy pals????????
After Stivers left Bank One, where he was a Vice President and lobbyist assigned to work with the state government, Stivers helped Bank One.
Dispatch (9/7/2008):
....As a member of the legislative panel that votes on major spending requests, Stivers approved three contracts in 2006 and 2007 worth a total of $174,000 to JPMorgan Chase & Co....
....Stivers' financial disclosure forms for 2007 show that he had $2,600 to $8,000 worth of Chase stock and retirement holdings.....
....Stivers spoke out against stricter regulation of the mortgage-lending industry in early 2006 and was one of three state senators to vote against a bill that year that imposed new requirements on the lending industry....
Shame on Steve Stivers for his pro-bank and pro-business legislative work. Stivers voted against an increase in the state's minimum wage had also voted against consumer protection laws. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
