The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has started running their attack ads about Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (OH-15th), Rep. Zach Space (OH-18th), and Rep. Steve Driehaus (OH-1st). With U.S. Chamber of Commerce receiving money from some foreign entities/corporations/individuals, you have to wonder what are these foreign groups and the Chamber trying to gain with this money and influence. Do we really want our elections decided by foreigners?
NBC Nightly News covered the influx of money from anonymous donors and the use of actors in political advertising:
> In the West Virginia ads that supported the Republican candidate, actors were hired to portray people from the state. The pro-Republican ad was filmed in Philadelphia, in the Oregon Diner, with actors told to dress in flannel shirts and beat up hats.
> Here in Ohio, we've seen ads for John Kasich, Republican candidate and former Lehman Brothers investment banker, where an out of work actor tried to portray an out of work steelworker. (I guess the Kasich campaign could not find any steelworkers willing to attack Strickland. Isn't just like Kasich to get a fake steelworker?)
> Some same actors have found jobs in political ads in different states.
Do we really want to have our officials elected because they got more money from Saudi Arabia, or Russia, or China? The Republicans and the "friends" will do anything to get elected - - - even if it means selling out to foreign groups.
