Money

*  Republican Rep. Steve Stivers (OH-15th) must have some big plans.

Politico:

STIVERS FORMS LEADERSHIP PAC: Freshman Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio) has formed a federal leadership PAC, which will allow him to raise money in increments up to $5,000 per year from individuals in order to support other candidates, promote ideological positions and the like. Leadership PACs are separate and apart from congressional candidate committees, which operate under a different set of fundraising rules....

...Alexandria, Va.-based Lisa Lisker will serve as treasurer, while Keith Davis will serve as assistant treasurer.

According to Sourcewatch, Lisker, and Davis run many campaigns and PACs for Republicans.

****  Gov. Rick Perry must not be a very smart man.  With all the cuts he made to his budget, now people are having to scramble to find shelter and emergency services due to the wildfires.  Is that another case of a Republican cutting necessary services in order to balance the state budget?

HoustonChronicle:

....State lawmakers - led by Perry's stand against raising taxes or dipping too deeply into the state's rainy day fund - cut appropriations for the Texas Forest Service even as they had to dig for more money to meet existing expenses.

Even the supplemental spending bill they passed this year will not be enough to cover the expense of fighting fires through Aug. 31, the end of the 2010-11 fiscal period. The state agency anticipates it will need another $61 million to cover those costs.

Perry spokeswoman Lucy Nashed said the Legislature had provided agencies the flexibility to meet emergencies with their regular budgets, and Perry is seeking federal assistance....

Wait a minute!  Is this the same Rick Perry that wanted Texas to secede from the United States?  Is this the same Rick Perry that has railed against the federal government?  Now Perry wants federal money to cover the fact that he and his Texas Republicans screwed up their budget.  Rick Perry sounds like a hypocrite.
