Oh, dear.

I wonder if they'll be passing out free samples at the scheduled Republican fundraiser on Thursday, August 12th.  The Ohio Republicans will be holding their big fundraiser at the home of Chuck Kubicki.

Dispatch:

...Chuck Kubicki, a Cincinnati real estate developer who operates Cincinnati United Contractors, also is owner of Vianda LLC, a direct-response marketing firm whose best-known product is Enzyte, an herbal supplement marketed by commercials featuring a character named “Smiling Bob,” who is “living large” because he started taking daily pills for “natural male enhancement.”

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I wonder if these Republicans will work to have Enzyte paid for by insurance companies.  As you might know, Republicans supported a bill that would allow insurance companies to pay for Viagra, but not birth control pills.

*** Here is an interesting fact from Sourcewatch:

"Former Congressman Rob Portman, R-Ohio, got $4,000 from two tribes. The contributions were made to America's Majority Trust, the leadership PAC that Portman formed before he left Congress to join the Bush cabinet as U.S. trade representative." (Original article: Cincinnati Post)

* Senateguru.com has a lot of info on Rob Portman including this:

...Portman, even during his Congressional years, has been a strong supporter of George W. Bush's plan to privatize social security.  Had Portman and Bush had their way, countless senior citizens would have seen their retirement security deteriorate before their eyes as Wall Street crumbled.  Well, what did Portman say about Bush's plan to privatize social security...

...Portman will even complicitly support the racist undertones of fellow far-right conservatives...
...Portman, who has his sights set on a leading role in national politics and who has been rumored as a possible running mate for McCain, instead praised Cunningham for his flagrant racism: "Willie, you're out of control again. So, what else is new? But we love him. But I've got to tell you, Bill Cunningham lending his voice to this campaign is extremely important."

The Senate Guru suggested an appropriate bumper sticker:

Ohio Treasurer, Kevin Boyce, Democratic candidate for Ohio Treasurer, has actually cut his own salary twice.  I guess some people didn't believe it.  Politifact declared this TRUE.  Boyce's opponent has no intention of doing the same.
