Sunday.....

*  A recent letter to the editor sent to the Suburban News shows that people in Mike Duffey's District have become increasingly disgusted with his support of Gov. Kasich's budget cuts to schools.  Duffey, a member of the Ohio House, strongly supported SB 5, and was the original sponsor of the bill that created Jobs Ohio.

*  With Republicans in control of the U.S. House, very little work has actually been accomplished.
Gazettenet:

....the House isn't exactly breaking records.

The 50 bills it has passed in the first five months of 2011 represent the lowest such number in more than 15 years. Republicans' anti-Washington rhetoric translated into a schedule intended to keep lawmakers out of Washington. The result has been fewer days in session and fewer votes.....

Boehner's buddies are hardly working in the House.

>>>>  The citizens of Ohio are worried about the plan by Gov. Kasich to sell off Ohio prisons to private companies.  People are worried that some of the problems that have been experienced by citizens near privately run prisons in other states, could happen in Ohio.

SpringfieldNewsSun:

An escape from a privatized prison in Kingman, Ariz., last year left two people dead and raised questions among some whether the same nightmare scenario could happen in Ohio.

The company that operates the Arizona State Prison Complex at Kingman is Utah-based Management and Training Corp., one of three for-profit corrections companies seeking to buy and operate five Ohio facilities under Gov. John Kasich’s prison privatization plan.

Escapes can and do happen at publicly operated prisons too. But a stunning lack of administrative oversight before the July 30, 2010, escape at Kingman has opponents of the Ohio plan calling it a textbook example of what can go wrong when private companies operate public corrections institutions.....

Kasich is going forward with this plan and his goal to sell/lease the Ohio Turnpike, even though Ohioans are against both.
