Kasich Wants to Run for President?

I found another gem about John "Lehman Brothers" Kasich.

BusinessWeek (12/5/94):

....A self-described "supply-sider and deficit hawk," he aims to build a coalition for a '90s version of old-time GOP "root canal" fiscal policy.....

...Some of his "crazy" ideas include limiting Medicare benefits for well-off seniors; privatizing the air traffic control system, which could hike airfares; and abolishing the Commerce Dept., which may kill export-incentive programs. The brash Kasich ducks the details for now, but he has backed all three cuts--and more--in the past.....

That sounds somewhat familiar, doesn't it? As a candidate, Kasich has proposed ending the state income tax, but has refused to give "details" on how the state would fund schools, colleges, libraries, prisons, roads, state government, etc.

Some people are speculating that Kasich might only want to use the possible election win in Ohio as a stepping stone to run for President again. First, he completely destroys Ohio, by firing public employees, closing schools and libraries, releasing prisoners, selling off state assets, then he leaves to run for President?

******* The state of Ohio doesn't have a penny to waste, but some Ohio Republicans want the state to sue to opt out of the new health care reform law.

Dispatch:

Two Republican state senators have joined efforts to block portions of the federal health-care reform bill, arguing that Washington has no business forcing Ohioans to buy health insurance....

The bill from Jones and Grendell also would require the attorney general to join more than a dozen other states in suing to block the mandates in the bill. Attorney General Richard Cordray, a Democrat who has taught constitutional law, has said he thinks the federal bill is constitutional and that the lawsuit would be "symbolic" and a waste of tax dollars.....

....Former U.S. Rep. John Kasich, Strickland's expected challenger for governor this fall, opposes the health-care bill and thinks "we should pursue every legal means to repeal and replace the law," a spokesman said.....

Would Republicans Jones, Grendell, and Kasich have tried to opt out of the Civil Right Law when it was passed? Rep. John Patrick Carney, a Democrat and an attorney, notes that federal law "...usurps state laws...."

**** The following is a couple of weeks old, but I thought you'd enjoy it.
BuckeyeStateBlog (3/11/10):

Today, the Ohio Democratic Party sent the following directions to Republican candidate for Secretary of State, State Sen. Jon Husted, for his upcoming trip to Kettering. In a rare occurrence, Husted will be appearing in Kettering – his alleged home – tomorrow evening for the Montgomery County Lincoln Day Dinner.....

BuckeyeStateBlog even provides the background on Husted's "home" in Kettering:

No water was consumed at Husted's Kettering home for 160 consecutive days, according to his official water bill. [Montgomery County Department of Water, 4/17/08 and 7/22/08]

The Dayton Daily News reported that Husted is "rarely seen" at his Kettering home. In addition, has not come back to Kettering to vote since 2005, but has instead voted absentee in every election. [Dayton Daily News, 10/22/08].....

Hilarious. Since the Ohio Supreme Court (all Republicans) declared that Husted is a resident of Kettering, we know how we all feel about it. If Husted is elected Ohio Secretary of State, he could declare that any given voter is not a legal resident of his/her declared address. Somehow that doesn't seem right.

I think we need some Democrats on the Ohio State Supreme Court!!!!
