How Convenient!

From PRnewswire:

The Ohio Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association (OPMCA) has named Karen Stivers to serve as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the organization. Stivers will oversee public affairs for the statewide trade association....

....Karen is a native of central Ohio, where she and her husband, Steve, reside with their daughter.

Karen Stivers is married to the Republican candidate for Congress, Steve Stivers. The Ohio Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association is a lobby that promotes and protects the rights of the members. There are currently four lobbyists associated with the OPMCA, as noted at the website for the Office of the Legislative Inspector General Joint Legislative Ethics Committee (you can do a search at www.jlec-olig.state.oh.us). With this small little hiring, Steve Stivers is now beholden to this lobbying group because they employ his wife. Besides being the darling of bankers, Stivers now has another lobbying group in his corner. Let those political contributions flow!!!!!

>>>> At a recent political forum, Steve Stivers gave his response to a question on repealing "Don't Ask Don't Tell." Columbusgayrealtor.blogspot.com has the video on Stivers' answer----NO.

Whether Stivers knows it or not, he has already served with gay men and women in the military. They have fought and died for our country. Stivers and others claim that we are at war and this isn't the right time to repeal "Don't Ask Don't Tell." We need to repeal DADT now because waiting serves no purpose.

*****Sen. Lamar Alexander is having a hissy-fit over the possibility of reconciliation being used to pass health care reform. According to Lawrence O'Donnell, filling in for Keith Olbermermann, Sen. Lamar Alexander has used reconciliation four times in the past.
