Husted and Kasich

*** You've read the announcement that Karen Stivers (wife of the Republican candidate for Ohio's 15th district) just got a nice job with a big lobbying firm (see post below). Do you know which Ohio GOPer was her former boss? Jon Husted (state sen. of Kettering, but lives in Upper Arlington) employed Karen Stivers as his spokeswoman for his legislative office. How cozy!!! These Ohio Republicans love the lobbyists.

> The Dayton Daily News has an article about what Jon Husted found in the application for some education grant money. Husted says that state education officials should be "embarrassed" by things he found in the application. Really?

I live in Ohio and I'm embarrassed for the people in Kettering who thought they had elected someone to serve in Columbus, but instead have Husted who openly lives in Upper Arlington instead of Kettering. By not living, shopping, cutting his own lawn, seeing neighbors on a daily basis, talking with business/community leaders, and even flushing the toilet in Kettering, Husted has lost touch with his constituents. His absence from his district made him miss the planned closing of NCR. If elected as the Ohio Secretary of State, Husted could challenge voters on their residency. When he was challenged by Jennifer Brunner about his own residency, Husted ran and whined at the feet of the Ohio Supreme Court until he got the Republican stacked court to rule his way. The people of Kettering must be embarrassed to have such a hypocrite representing them.

*** Some good news!
Dispatch:

State leaders are trumpeting that Ohio had the most new corporate facilities and expansions open last year, the fourth time in a row that the state has placed No. 1 in the annual list compiled by Site Selection magazine.

The ranking can cause "site-selection professionals to take a closer look at Ohio," said Lisa Patt-McDaniel, director of the Ohio Department of Development. "We've been battling this image of Ohio as a Rust Belt state for a long time, and I do think that this kind of recognition helps."

The tough economy was reflected in the number of projects racked up by the winners: Ohio won with 381 projects for 2009, compared with the 503 projects that clinched its 2008 win. Texas was second with 374 projects, while Michigan ranked third with 371....

Good!

While we celebrate business growth in Ohio, Republicans are praying for more job losses. John Kasich is hoping for a total collapse so he can bring in his catastrophic ideas of eliminating the state income tax and closing public schools. Kasich doesn't like public schools and he seems to fear public school teachers even more. Like Husted, Kasich wants to turn over the running of schools to the big shot charter school owners who make huge contributions to their campaigns. Can Ohio really afford to take funding away from communities, libraries, and schools?

Do you know why the Ohio Republicans are against the new Ohio rail project? Here are just two of the reasons:
(1) They do not want to see any job growth before the election,
(2) They do not want someone else other than their "very special" contributors getting road building projects in the state.

Kasich and Husted's plans could set our state back and we cannot afford them.
