Here They Go Again...

**** There is a great letter to the editor in the Chillicothe Gazette that clearly explain why Republican senatorial candidate, Rob Portman, is the wrong choice for Ohio:

I've done my research, and Rob Portman is clearly the wrong choice for Ohio.

As budget director under President Bush, he took over with a budget deficit of $250 billion, and by 2008, the deficit had doubled to more than $450 billion. I know firsthand how hard it can be to propose budget cuts, but that is not the kind of legacy one hopes to leave behind....

...... Portman spent decades in Washington doing just the opposite -- undercutting the local businesses in Chillicothe and across Ohio that make our community strong....

The letter is from Tom Spetnagel, Jr., the Chillicothe City Auditor. Well done!

>>>>> Sounds like Elizabeth Hasselbeck has hit a nerve with some people in The View's audience. Raw Story has it:

The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck tried to explain Monday why many anti-health reform activists hurled racial and homophobic epithets at lawmakers this weekend, but was repeatedly shouted down when she seemed to justify the anger by suggesting it was caused by the way Democrats pushed the reforms through Congress.

On Monday's show, co-host Whoopi Goldberg brought up reports that Tea Party protesters called US House Rep. barney Frank (D-MA), an openly gay lawmaker, a "fa**ot," while Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), a civil rights movement leader, was called a "ni**er."

....At that point the audience and co-hosts shouted Hasselbeck down....

There is much more about Hasselbeck at the Raw Story site. Is Hasselbeck trying to say that it is okay if angry tea baggers use racial slurs, homophobic epithets, and spit on Members of Congress? Shame on her. There is never a reason to use those terms or act in such a manner.

***** Plunderbund.com has the information about how Republican State Senator Grendall has gone up against the Ohio Inspector General:

The Inspector General is investigating the thwarted “raid” on the Governor’s Mansion over an alleged administrative prison rule violation over a non-criminal conspiracy to smuggle cigarettes into a state correctional facility. The Inspector General has a specific statutory charge into this matter and the experience and expertise to determine what, if anything, that office uncovers is a violation of Ohio law.

The Senate Criminal Justice Committee is chaired by a man who was sanctioned by the Ohio Supreme Court for filing a frivolous suit on behalf of his wife, then a member of a General Assembly, seeking to reinsert a pork appropriation to an airport in the district that was removed from legislation. (Ironically, Grendall actually cites his record on tort reform against frivolous lawsuits as one of his major legislative achievements.) This is the second time that a case involving Sen. Grendall had been ruled “meritless” by the Ohio Supreme Court. See, State ex rel. The Ryant Comm. v. Lorain Cnty. Bd. of Elections, 86 Ohio St.3d 108, 1999-Ohio-88. This is who the Senate Republicans are entrusting to evaluate the merits of a criminal investigation that the head of the law enforcement agency investigating the matter concluded very likely was meritless.

The Ohio Inspector General has asked the Senate Chairman to stop his political committee hearings (after all, the committee has no power to file criminal charges, and no bill is under consideration) until the the I.G. gets an opportunity to interview these critical witnesses first....

Grendall is obviously trying to make a name for himself, but he should not go up against the Inspector General. (As you may recall, Grendall was the one who complained about the stimulus signs showing up around the state. Grendall didn't like the signs even though he had previously supported 74 honorary sign designations around the state. See Cleveland.com.)

*** Republican candidate for Ohio Attornery General, Mike DeWine, former lap dog for George W. Bush, said this at the Miami County GOP Convention (TippNewsDaily):

...speaking with Mr. Dewine for a few moments and he told me “If the Obama Heath Care Bill passes, as Attorney General I will file a suit challenging the constitutionality of the bill.”

Guess we have another reason not to vote for DeWine.
