Taking Note

* Did Democratic Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy's letter to an AIG owned mortgage company help a constituent? The Dispatch has a story on how Kilroy's office intervened and it may have caused a change of policy by AIG's American General Finance.

* This Week News also has an article about Kilroy:

In office for only little more than three months, U.S. Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy has already voted on successful legislation that will help ensure fair pay for women and health insurance for children.

But still on her busy agenda is pushing ahead with health care reform, cancer research funding, and, of course, the economy.

Kilroy, who represents the 15th district and is the first Democrat to represent central Ohio in congress in many years, spoke to the Women's Business Network of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce last Thursday at the Jessing Center at the Josephinum.....

Thanks, Mary Jo!

> Do you ever wonder if some Republicans just hate clean air, clean water, and the environment? Why is it that certain Republicans just seem to vote against certain legislation? A recent vote on HR 1145 (Roll Call Vote 205), National Water Research and Development Initiative Act of 2009, shows that all the NAY votes are Republicans: Broun (GA), Culberson, Flake, Foxx, Franks (AZ), Garrett (NJ), Hensarling, Miller (MI), Poe (TX), Shadegg. What is wrong with these people???? Broun (GA), Flake, Shadegg (as well as GOPers McClintock, Paul, and Young (AK) voted against the Green Energy Education Act (HR 957, Roll Call Vote 199).
