'Not Me'

The Columbus Dispatch had an interesting headline---- 'Not me,' 2 more tell GOP
However, this was on the front page of an inside section of the paper. (Were they trying to hide the story?) Here are some excerpts from the Dispatch article:

Doug Preisse can count his candidates for one of the nation's most crucial congressional races next year by making a fist.
The Franklin County Republican Party chairman has none.
"We're not panicking," he insisted yesterday after two of his party's strongest candidates joined a growing list of Republicans forgoing the race to replace retiring GOP Rep. Deborah Pryce, who has held the 15th Congressional District seat since 1993......

The other name being passed around by the Ohio GOP is Dewey Stokes. However, Mr. Stokes appears quite happy with his role as a Franklin County Commissioner, husband, and grandfather. He might not be ready or able to take on the travel schedule of a member of Congress.

Are Ohioans just sick of the Republican dirty tricks, lies, and corruption? Perhaps. I think that Ohioans just need a break from the mess that the members of the Ohio GOP created when they were in charge. Governor Strickland probably needed a shovel to get out the dirt left behind by the Republicans when he first came to office. Ohioans seem to like Governor Strickland and appreciate his work in restoring honesty and integrity to the state government.
