**** Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy has been getting a lot of attention from the writers and readers of the Huffington Post. Many people admire Kilroy's spunk and her hard work. She has worked tirelessly to get the bank reform bill passed (A bill that her opponent, a former bank lobbyist, opposes.). Kilroy also put in a lot of time on the health reform bill. (This too is a repeal target by Kilroy's opponent.).
As Mary Jo Kilroy says on her campaign ad, ".....We can't go back to the same failed policies that got us into this mess..." Unfortunately, Kilroy's opponent, Stivers, a former bank lobbyist, wants to go back to those failed policies.
* John Kasich, former investment bank with the bankrupt Lehman Brothers, is what kids call a "copy cat" - - - taking someone else's ideas then claim them as his own. On the Ted Strickland campaign site, you see what policies and executive orders that Strickland has carried out. Then you see Kasich's proposals. As shocking as it is, the page shows that
1) Kasich doesn't seem to know much about what Strickland has done,
2) Kasich seems uninformed about what is going on in the state,
3) doesn't understand why so many business leaders have endorsed Strickland's work.
**** Steve Chabot, former Republican Representative for Ohio's 1st district, is trying to get his old job back after he lost in the last election. Chabot, another Bush rubber stamper, doesn't even have an issues page up yet. This is what Chabot's issues page says:
This page is under construction and will be updated shortly.
Looks like Chabot is offering the same old same old. Is it laziness that he has nothing on his issues page? Does he have any issues? Does Chabot just want a job?
Here is a Youtube video on Chabot:
*** On a TV ad, Republican Pat Tiberi (OH-12) says that "around here people save their money, invest in the future, ....". Somehow I don't believe that people in his district are able to save money when he has done nothing to help them. When Tiberi voted against the stimulus, and then he turned around and begged for money for a particular business in his district. Tiberi, former lap dog of President Bush, now has his strings pulled by Boehner.
I learned a lot about Tiberi's background the other day at Plunderbund. Tiberi's previous experience was in the OSU marching band and then congressional staff member for John Kasich. Tiberi has brought nothing to his role as a member of Congress, and he has done nothing for his district. For 10 years, Tiberi has done absolutely nothing to improve the lives of the people in his district. He is a seat warmer.
* Looks like some of the Republicans are unhappy with their leader, John Boehner.
CNN:
GOP colleagues of House Minority Leader John Boehner are distancing themselves from the Ohio Republican's recent remarks that he would support President Barack Obama's proposal to renew the expiring Bush tax cuts only for those making less than $250,000 if it were his only option.....
.....Early Monday, the number two House Republican, Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor, released a statement emphasizing his focus on an across-the-board extension of all tax rates.....
.....Up until now, elected leaders have managed to stay on the same page. On Tuesday, however, three conservative House Republicans dubbed "the Young Guns" -- Cantor, Deputy Whip Kevin McCarthy of California, and Paul Ryan of Wisconsin -- will launch a book tour to promote a policy blueprint that is likely to create new questions about a possible split with Boehner on the tax issue.
Apparently, Boehner and Cantor do not get along. With Boehner announcing his idea and Cantor seeming to oppose it, are Republicans ready to battle it out in the conference room?
Have you noticed that Republicans release books during an election year? Here in Ohio, John "Lehman" Kasich, released his book about his bible study group. Oh, how revealing. Is he trying to sew up the bible reading crowd.
