The Heat is On in Ohio's 15th

*** Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy has been talking about the issues during this campaign and her previous campaigns.  Her opponent, Steve Stivers, a former bank lobbyist with Bank One Corp., hasn't discussed issues yet.

Fortunately, there is a lot of information about Steve Stivers and his ties to the banking industry and his work in the Ohio Senate.  The Columbus Dispatch (Sept. 7, 2008):

....As a member of the legislative panel that votes on major spending requests, Stivers approved three contracts in 2006 and 2007 worth a total of $174,000 to JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Stivers headed corporate lobbying for Banc One Corp., which was acquired by Chase in 2004, after Stivers had left the company to enter the state Senate. Stivers' financial disclosure forms for 2007 show that he had $2,600 to $8,000 worth of Chase stock and retirement holdings....

....Stivers spoke out against stricter regulation of the mortgage-lending industry in early 2006 and was one of three state senators to vote against a bill that year that imposed new requirements on the lending industry....

Time and time again, Stivers has supported bankers over people, the rights of businesses over the rights of citizens.  Stivers is against stem cell research today, even though he was for it previously. Stivers continues to do some flip flops.  On abortion, Stivers once supported a woman's reproductive rights, but now he has decided to support the right for a woman to choose an abortion under certain circumstances. When the state minimum wage was approved, Stivers was against home health care workers  receiving the new increase. He even tried to change the law to exclude them.

Flippity - floppity- flippity- floppity!

Stivers continues to receive big funding from banks, energy PACs, and right wing contributors.  Kilroy continues to be the choice of working people who support families, children, and the elderly.
