Voting Against Children

Two of the most successful government programs have been the school breakfast and lunch programs. Having taught in public schools for many years, I am well aware of the benefits that these programs have provided to children. A hungry child cannot learn. Most people know this. However, there are some Republicans in the House who haven't gotten the message.

You are probably wondering which members of the House would vote against a resolution that states the breakfast program is positive influence. Right? Read below:

Office of the Clerk-Roll Call Vote 110
H RES 210 2/3 YEA-AND-NAY 9-Mar-2009 6:57 PM
QUESTION: On Motion to Suspend the Rules and Agree
BILL TITLE: Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that providing breakfast in schools through the National School Breakfast Program has a positive impact on classroom performance.

NAYS:
Akin
Broun (GA)
Campbell
Chaffetz
Duncan
Flake
King (IA)
Lummis
Paul
Poe (TX)
Shadegg

These are all Republicans. I've checked and these same Republicans also voted against the final passage of the Children's Health Insurance Reauthorization Program of 2009 (Roll Call Vote 16) on January 14, 2009. Do these Republicans just dislike helping children?
