Ohio's Hot Congressional Races

* In the current issue of the Columbus Monthly, an article called 'The Obama Effect,' has pollsters predicting many Democratic candidates will win election because of the type of voters Obama is attracting. It is true that the typical Obama voter is enthusiastic and anxious for change. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

* A debate between candidates for Ohio's 7th district was very lively. Democrat Sharen Neuhardt and Republican Steve Austria had much to say especially about immigration and the Iraq war. According to the Dispatch, Neuhardt supports a careful withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Austria, on the other hand, appears to support continuing the war in Iraq. In my opinion, Austria seems to support Bush and McCain unending war in Iraq.

* President Bill Clinton will be a guest at a fundraiser for the Ohio Democratic Party. Call the ODP for more information at (614) 270-3715.

* Mary Jo Kilroy, Democratic candidate for Ohio's 15th district, has a lot to offer voters. Kilroy would offer a fresh perspective in Washington DC. Mary Jo doesn't have to answer to oil lobbyists or banks (like someone else we know who has received campaign contributions from bank and oil PACs.)

* Ohio's 1st congressional district has a hot race with Democrat Steve Driehaus and Republican Rep. Steve Chabot. I guess if people really want change in Washington, they'll vote for Driehaus. Voters in the first district should be reminded that Chabot was a big supporter of Bush's privatizing social security plan. Imagine what would have happened to the elderly if Bush and Chabot would have won on that issue. What would senior citizens be doing now if their social security had been invested in the stock market? Chabot has been in lock step with President Bush. If citizens in the 1st district really want to break from the Bush agenda and his failed policies, they need to elect Driehaus for Congress.
