Today is primary day in Ohio. Republicans have been slinging mud at each other, even though it is only a primary! Republicans are also spending lots of money too. I hope they won't have enough for the general election in November.
The Toledo Blade describes Ohio as a center of hope for Democrats. Ohioans have just had enough of Republican rule. Voters are weary of the problems in Ohio: plant closings, increasing unemployment, scandals, voter fraud, loss of health insurance, increasing death toll in Iraq, coingate, influence peddling, lies, dishonesty, etc. etc. etc.
I just heard that Laura Bush will visit Thurber House today along with the fundraiser stop for Pryce.
Update: I caught a little of the news concerning Deborah Pryce's fundraiser with Laura Bush. Two words sum it up: Photo op
Face it. Laura Bush is not an elected official and she only came because having the President visit would have provided fodder for demonstrations and bad press for Pryce. Who cares if Laura Bush met with some mothers and teachers and talked about No Child Left Behind? Who cares about any of this campaign propaganda? It will not bring us jobs. It will not bring our troops home. It will not re-open closed businesses. It will not end the scandal within the Republican Party. It certainly will not do anything to lower gas prices. The only thing that will bring change is a new crop of leaders who are dedicated to strenghtening our country, helping our families, and making a better America.
