Pryce and Republicans Worried About Senior Backlash

Republican Rep. Deborah Pryce (OH-15) and the Republican Party are worried about senior citizens abandoning their party. Republicans are worried not because of the confusing medicare prescription drug plans, not because of their party's attempt to end social security, not because of their party's mismanagement of the Iraq war and our economy, but because of Democrats. In the Gainesville Sun, Pryce has accused Democrats of trying "to scare seniors away from signing up for this benefit." This is a load of crap!

What have Republicans done for seniors in the last 6 years? Nothing. The medicare prescription drug plan was originally designed for 2 purposes: (1) reward the drug companies (who have been generous in their support of Republicans), and (2) win over senior citizen voters for the next election. However, senior citizens have become angry about the Republican plan to destroy social security and this crazy and confusing drug plan. The other reason for the loss of faith by seniors has to do with the war. Senior citizens, many of whom are veterans (or lost family and friends) of WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, and the first Gulf War, have become fed up with this administration's handling of the war in Iraq. Now seniors are faced with the deaths of grandchildren in the Iraq war.

As time goes on, more and more senior citizens in Ohio, Florida, Arizona, and other states will join with Democratic candidates in an attempt to put the country back on the right path again. We can do better and we must do better for our grandchildren and great grandchildren. Democrats are our only hope to do the right thing in our country and the world.
