Rudy

An article on Rudy Giuliani in Newsweek has the real story on Giuliani and it isn't pretty. Giuliani's son, Andrew, had a few things to say about his father. Here are some excerpts from about the relationship between the father and son from an article from Newsday:

...The younger Giuliani, now 21 and a sophomore at Duke University, said their relationship had become distant after Giuliani's sharply contested divorce from Andrew's mother, Donna Hanover, and his subsequent marriage to Judith Nathan.
"We are both working on our relationship," Andrew Giuliani told ABC News. "No matter what he's done, I love my father. He's my father and we love each other. It's not as good as it once was -- but it's better than when it was its lowest, and it is getting better all the time."

He added: "I have problems with my father, but it doesn't mean he won't make a great president."

....Andrew Giuliani told The New York Times that he didn't intend to take part in his father's campaign because he was busy pursuing a career as a professional golfer. He told the newspaper he and his father have been trying to reconcile after not speaking "for a decent amount of time."

"There's obviously a little problem that exists between me and his wife," he said of Nathan.

The newspaper also said Rudolph Giuliani missed his son's high school graduation and that his relationship with his daughter, Caroline, 17, is distant as well.

While he was mayor, Giuliani prided himself on attending his children's activities -- even substituting his son for himself for a round of golf with Tiger Woods. Andrew Giuliani also came to national attention when he hammed it up during his father's 1994 inauguration at age 7.

The divorce put the children into the spotlight, as their parents fought over custody and over whether Nathan could meet them. At one point, Nathan was barred by judge's order from Gracie Mansion.

The New York Daily News also has a story about Andrew:
Rudy Giuliani's son seems to think his dad would make a better President than he did a father.

"I got my values from my mother," 21-year-old Andrew Giuliani told ABC in an interview quoted on "Good Morning America" yesterday, the same day the Daily News spotlighted the rift between the former mayor and his only son.

"She's a strong influence in my life," Andrew Giuliani said of his mother, Donna Hanover, seemingly drawing a contrast between her and Rudy Giuliani. "She's a strong woman."

Andrew's outspoken comments came after more than a year of frosty relations between the Duke University student and his father. Insiders say Giuliani has increasingly chosen to spend time with third wife Judith Nathan rather than Andrew and daughter Caroline, 18.....

Nice father, huh?
