Republican lawmakers have asked the top executives of NYSE Group Inc., which owns the New York Stock Exchange, and Dow Jones & Co. what will be done about any technical problems that contributed to Tuesday's steep drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
Rep. Spencer Bachus of Alabama and Rep. Deborah Pryce of Ohio said on Wednesday they want to know if "unprecedented, intermittent system shortcomings" impacted the largest U.S. stock exchange and the Dow Jones index servers in a way that made the decline more alarming.....
