There is a huge budget gap in Ohio and Governor Ted Strickland has waited for the Republican controlled Ohio Senate to fix it. However, those Republicans are trying to blackmail Strickland. They won't work on the budget unless Strickland okays a huge tax cut that was set in place during Republican Gov. Bob Taft's administration. If Republicans refuse to meet and work on the budget, Strickland will have to trim over $850 million and most of that will have to come from education. The Republicans don't care because they are only interested in getting re-elected and making the Democratic Governor of Ohio look bad. Shame on those Republicans in the Ohio Senate. They are only trying to reward their rich contributors with a tax cut. (For more on the story, see the Phillyburbs.)
