I started to laugh out loud when I read the Dispatch this morning. In a story buried inside the paper, Republican candidate for Ohio's 15th congressional district, Steve Stivers said he was not a lobbyist for Bank One. Unfortunately, for Stivers, the State of Ohio has the paperwork to show that he was indeed a lobbyist.
After doing a search at http://www.jlec-olig.state.oh.us/ this is what I found:
There are a total of 56 documents detailing Steve Stivers and his lobbying efforts for Bank One.
For example: Item #1 was filed on 2/1/2000. The form is titled "Executive Agency Lobbyist/Employer Initial Registration Statement."
On page 2 of the form, it says the following:
C. Brief description of the Executive Agency Decision(s) to to which Executive Agency Lobbyist's engagement relates: "Financial Decisions"
D. Categorical listing of offices of Elected Executive Official, Department or Executive Agencies to which the engagement relates. There are checks next to Governor, Lt. Governor, Sec. of State, Auditor of State, Treasurer of State, Attorney General.
The form is signed by Steve Stivers.
