People outside of state government can't understand how Ohio Speaker of the House Jon Husted, a Republican, gets so much stuff for his district. Husted pushed and bullied his way through the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) until he got the Austin Pike interchange built in his district. Even though the Austin Pike project had been a low priority, Husted got it moved to a Tier 1 (high priority) project. How did Oberer Development, that just happened to contribute thousands and thousands of dollars to the Husted campaign, win the contract? I'm just asking.
According to the Ohio Secretary of State's campaign finance page, people associated with Oberer Companies/Oberer Development gave:
$10,000 to Husted's campaign in 2007
$2,000 to Husted's campaign in 2006
$4,000 to Husted's campaign in 2005
$4,500 to Husted's campaign in 2004
Doesn't that seem a little excessive?
