Taking Names

Yesterday, nearly 10,000 people got together in front of the Ohio Statehouse to send the message to "Kill SB 5." The bill, which was written by State Sen. Shannon Jones, with major input by lobbyists and outside groups, outlaws collective bargaining, and restricts the rights of public employees.

With a critical vote on SB 5 scheduled today, union workers across the state are watching which way lawmakers vote. As more evidence surfaces that Ohio Gov. Kasich, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and other Republican elected officials are working with and being advised by their outside business billionaire contributors, many voters have become outraged that the agenda is being controlled by people who do not live in our state, and want nothing more than corporate control of everything.

Voters will remember the names of lawmakers that

1.  voted against Middle Class union families.

2.  sided with the Koch Brothers, Americans for Prosperity, instead of workers.

3.  abandoned the ideas of workers' rights and job safety in favor of promoting right wing ideology, and gaining campaign contributions.

4.  decided that experienced teachers, small class sizes, and safe school buildings are not that important in educating children.

5.  disrespected the work and dedication of firefighters, police officers, nurses, state workers, teachers, prison guards, and all public employees.


Union workers did not cause the economic downturn.  The recession was caused by the greed and risky practices of bankers, banks, and investment firms.Why are state official going after Middle Class union workers?
