Besides "irresponsible," there are a few other words that come to mind when I think of the Republicans in the Ohio Senate. While Democrats want to delay a planned tax cut, the Republicans in the Ohio Senate still support a tax cut. Just before he left office, former Republican Gov. Bob Taft and the elected Republicans in the General Assembly, pushed through dramatic tax cuts that they hoped would create havoc for the incoming Democratic Governor, Ted Strickland.
With Ohio suffering the economic mess left by Taft and George W. Bush, it would be foolish, irresponsible, and just plain stupid for the Republicans to let the tax cuts occur at this moment. If we just left the tax rate as it is now, further cuts would not have to be made in programs where money is needed most.
