Pryce Says America About Profits

Today's Columbus Dispatch has a front page article about how Republicans are tied to big oil. In the middle of the article, Republican Rep. Deborah Pryce (OH-15) is mentioned: ...Rep. Deborah Pryce, R-Upper Arlington, after saying profit is "what America’s all about," denounced ExxonMobil for record profits while refusing to pay billions of dollars in punitive damages for the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.....

America is all about profits? Where is that written in the Constitution? I thought this country was founded on the principles of equality, justice, and freedom. Pryce has been hanging out with those big spenders from the big oil and the big drug companies. While she spends time skiing in Colorado getting money for her PRYCE PAC from big shots, we are left here in central Ohio with nothing. She has forgotten about the average person in her district who cannot find a decent job, get health insurance, or afford gasoline.

From the same Dispatch article:

...Usually, the oil companies are welcome on Capitol Hill because they have been generous contributors to political candidates, although they give more money to Republicans than Democrats. During the 2004 election, ExxonMobil gave more than $815,000 to GOP candidates and causes, compared with about $105,000 to Democrats, according to Dwight L. Morris and Associates, a campaign-finance research organization.

Pryce got $11,500 in campaign contributions during the 2004 election cycle from the oil and natural-gas industry, including $1,500 from ExxonMobil. De-Wine got $7,000 from the industry during the last election, none of it from ExxonMobil, records show...

As we pump gas into our cars this weekend and the price keeps clicking upward, just remember this--because of the coziness between Republicans and big oil, the consumer is really paying the price. We can no longer afford the price of having Deborah Pryce as our representative.

****I have to agree with Grandpaboy when he said....What baffles me is that despite having the much bally-hoed Fourth Most Powerful Republican in the House, Deborah Pryce, as our Representative, we continue to be economically screwed.

****Finally...the Republicans want to give us all $100 if we allow them to drill for oil in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge. Is that like hush money? Where will that money come from...the debt? ....big oil?
