It Ain't Over

Perhaps Republican State Sen. Jon Husted of Kettering (but primarily of Upper Arlington) thought he was off the hook. He may have even thought that since he is the darling of the Ohio GOP that no one would notice that he spends 99.9% of his time in Upper Arlington living with his wife and kids. Or, it is even possible, that Husted thought everyone would forget that he really and truly doesn't live in Kettering. Well,........... Ohio Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, didn't forget.

Dayton Daily News:

The question of Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s residency has been sent back to the Montgomery County Board of Elections by Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, who also subpoenaed records of his water, electric and natural gas usage.

She said Husted’s response to her request for documentation of his residency was incomplete and she issued six subpoenas for the utility records, along with property and postal records.....

..... By law legislators must live in the district they represent and voters must live where they are registered to vote. The board of elections is considering Husted’s residence for voting purposes. It would be up to the Ohio Senate to determine if he is a resident of his district.

It also seems that the people of Kettering are feeling neglected. Remember how Husted appeared to be blindsided by the NCR move? If the Montgomery County Board of Elections or Brunner decide that Husted is not of resident of Kettering, could he be charged with voter fraud? Will the people of Kettering continue to vote for Husted even though he doesn't live there? We'll see what happens.
