> Republican candidate for Congress, a former bank lobbyist, Steve Stivers always brags about his tort reform (Senate Bill 80). The Cleveland Free Times (6/18/2003) had this take on that bill.......
....the State Senate last week approved a bill in a very unusual manner that would make it virtually impossible to sue big companies for harming you. Under Senate Bill 80, written by insurance industry lobbyists and sponsored by freshman State Senator Steve Stivers of Columbus, limits on non-economic damages would range from $500,000 to $1 million, and the bill would cap punitive damages at $100,000.....
Isn't great to know that Stivers got together with those insurance industry lobbyists to get their preferences for this bill? Looks like Stivers didn't care what the bill did to people. I guess if voters want someone who will work for lobbyists and corporations, they should vote for Stivers. If they want a member of Congress who will work for people, they'll vote for Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy.
