The Bad News
> It appears that the Ohio legislature will pass a watered down bill to restrict the payday lenders. The Republican controlled Ohio legislature at first wanted to help consumers, but then they heard from the payday lenders themselves who cried crocodile tears at a recent hearing. Payday lenders charge 390% interest on loans. The payday lenders said that if they were restricted to only charging 36% on loans, it would drive them out of the state because they wouldn't be able to make any money. (The Springfield News has more.) Will our elected officials vote to help consumers or the payday lenders?
