...“Career lobbyist,” is a term you’re likely to hear used repeatedly over the next year as a negative reference to Stivers’s pre-legislature job with Bank One.
Team Kilroy is also focusing on Stivers’s vote against the 2006 law intended to curb predatory-lending practices in Ohio. Championed by advocates for the poor, the law was passed with bipartisan support by the GOP-controlled legislature and signed into law by a Republican governor, Bob Taft.
One Democratic operative described Stivers this week as a “shill for the mortgage industry as a lobbyist” who followed the same path as a lawmaker by opposing the predatory-lending bill. With the housing crisis expected to be an issue in 2008, the operative said that vote could come back to haunt Stivers.....
Just what Ohio needs----someone a little too friendly with the banking industry! With Ohio one of the leaders in the country for home foreclosures, it would not be good to put someone in the House who prefers helping banks rather than people.
