Bad News

News from the 15th congressional district--- More businesses are closing. Just this week, we've lost 2 Fuddruckers Restaurants and a Houlilan's Restaurant. CompUSA and Circuit City have stores that are in the process of closing and they are also located in Deborah Pryce's 15th congressional district. This must be the economic turn around that Pryce has promised to the voters. Unfortunately, it has gone from bad to worse.

Education Week: Abstinence-Only Programs Don't Work, Study Finds

Students who participated in sexual-abstinence education programs partially funded by the federal government were just as likely to have sex, and had the same number of sexual partners, as those who did not take part in the programs, a federally mandated report said today.

Both groups of youths—those who participated in abstinence education, and those who participated in other health education programs available in their areas—had a median age of first intercourse of 14 years and 9 months.....

Ohio Governor Strickland is correct in his recent statement that these programs don't work. We need to stop using federal funds on worthless things like abstinence programs. Kids today need the correct scientific information about types of birth control, STDs, AIDS, and condoms.
