A vote yesterday shows exactly which members of the House of Representatives support people and which support banks. HR 3639 was passed to stop banks and credit card companies from increasing rates to high, obscene percentages before a law kicks in next year.
From Thomas, the Library of Congress, HR 3639 is described as---
Title: To amend the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 to establish an earlier effective date for various consumer protections, and for other purposes.
Note: Our very own member of the House, Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (OH-15), is listed as one of the cosponsors. (I wonder how her Republican opponent, a former bank lobbyist, would have voted on this measure.)
The vote for the measure, according to the House Clerk, went like this--- 331=YES and 92= NO.
Among those voting NO! from Ohio are ----- Austria, Boehner, Jordan, Latta, Schmidt.
