Republican Rep. Steve Stivers (OH-15th), a former bank lobbyist, spoke last week in front of the Ohio State Medical Association PAC. The PAC, which is very Republican and very conservative, does not represent all the physicians in Ohio. Some physicians refuse to support the PAC because it is too far to the right.
In his speech in front of some OSMA PAC members, Stivers repeats his plan to push tort reform, as he did as a member of the State Senate. In his speech, Stivers retells the story of one of his relatives going to a hospital. These anecdotal examples are not scientific evidence of anything. If you are interested in what he said, visit this YouTube video. I'm just curious as to why he said he wasn't talking about any certain people when he didn't even have to make that comment.
*** The Republicans are still talking up Josh Mandel as their possible candidate for U.S. Senate. Mandel had a few little votes in his past which might make some people uneasy.
ClevelandJewishNews (May 27, 2010) has a story of how then State Rep. Mandel voted against the bill for Equal Housing and Employment Act. The bill protects people from being fired getting housing because of their sexual orientation. Apparently, Mandel thinks it is fine to discriminate against people in the LGBT community.
>>>>>> What a surprise! The Columbus Dispatch continues to support Gov. John Kasich and seems to push only letters to the editor that are for SB5.
