Something to Share

*** Plunderbund has an interesting graph that you might want to share with your neighbors that support charter schools:

Giving money to charter schools is a total waste of our tax money because they are not up to the standards and qualities of Ohio's public schools.

****  It never surprises me when I see that Republican Rep. Steve Stivers (OH-15) is doing the bidding for his campaign contributors.  According to OpenSecrets, Stivers received the following contributions from American Electric Power:

American Electric Power $52,450  $47,450  $5,000

Here is what the Dispatch has today in a story about AEP (American Electric Power):

Proposed federal clean-air rules could have a profound impact on American Electric Power, leading to an increase in electricity bills, the closing or partial closing of 11 power plants and the loss of 600 jobs, the company said.....

....Environmental advocates say that Ohioans would be much better off if AEP shuts down its oldest and most-polluting plants to comply with the rules and replaces them with cleaner technology.....

...U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers, R-Columbus, opposes the EPA rules. He thinks higher electricity bills will contribute to job losses, and he would like to see Congress take action. But he doesn't expect any consensus this year....

Isn't that cozy?  AEP has Stivers to represent them.  Stivers, a former bank lobbyist, appears to be working as a lobbyist for AEP!
