*When the president has lost some of the country music people, then you know he is in deep trouble. Merle Haggard has a new song that will get plenty of play in the next few week. You can hear it at his official Merle Haggard website.

*Despite sagging presidential polls and the electorate's lack of confidence in Republicans, Republican Tom DeLay still believes that Republicans will do well in November's election. ABC News has the whole story. In my humble opinion, DeLay is not dealing with reality.

*Rising gas prices are really changing the behavior of Americans. The Eugene Register Guard reports that people say they are driving less, cutting short vacations and curtailing their use of heating and air conditioning....

...The number of people who expect rising gas prices to cause financial problems in the months ahead has jumped from 51 percent a year ago to 70 percent now, according to AP polling. This increase has been dramatic among people who earn more than $50,000...
