Franklin County is doing something to help our men and women in uniform.

It might be one of Franklin County's least-used benefits, but commissioners voted yesterday to give a nice payout to employees called to active military duty.
The county will cut a $500-per-child check to help families cope during the separation....
...The money will come without strings and will be offered each time an employee is deployed for a year. Commissioners hope families will use the perk to pay for such extras as camp, sports, household help, child-care, family outings or bills.....
